Nairobi surprised me in the most beautiful ways. I arrived expecting a busy African capital ( As it is widely known as ) Having left my homeland Ethiopia for further studies in Russia when I was only 17 years old, Nairobi was the first city in East Africa I had longed to visit. What I found instead was a city that effortlessly blends raw nature, deep-rooted culture, bold flavors, and refined modern luxury—a city that knows who it is and isn’t afraid to show it. As a travel blogger from Ethiopia with a deep love for luxurious, aesthetically pleasing, and strategically located stays, Nairobi felt like a familiar cousin with its own irresistible personality. And at the heart of my experience was one place that truly stole the show: Where I stayed during my 2 weeks visit. But let me start from the beginning.

Imagine sipping your morning coffee while knowing that lions, giraffes, and rhinos roam freely just minutes away. Nairobi National Park is unlike anywhere I’ve ever been. A full wildlife experience set against the backdrop of a modern skyline—nature and city life coexisting in perfect contrast. Watching rhinos graze while skyscrapers shimmer in the distance felt surreal, poetic, and uniquely Nairobi. As someone who has explored parks and lodges across East Africa, this proximity is rare—and unforgettable.

Nairobi’s food scene is vibrant, confident, and global. From high-end restaurants in Kilimani and Westlands to hidden local gems, the city offers flavors that excite both the adventurous and the refined palate. I indulged in:
As a luxury-loving traveler, I appreciate restaurants that pay attention to presentation, service, and atmosphere—and Nairobi delivers consistently.

No visit to Nairobi is complete without connecting to the Maasai community.
Their cultural values—strength, unity, respect for tradition, and deep connection to land—left a lasting impression on me. The bold red attire, intricate beadwork, and proud posture are not just visual beauty; they represent identity and resilience. Coming from Ethiopia, where culture and heritage run deep, I felt a powerful connection. Different histories, shared pride.

Kenyan food is honest, hearty, and deeply satisfying. From ugali served with rich stews to street snacks bursting with flavor, every meal felt grounding. Food here brings people together—and you feel that warmth whether dining in a luxury restaurant or sharing a casual local meal.
If Nairobi had a heartbeat, it would be its matatus. These are not just vehicles—they are rolling art galleries, cultural statements, and expressions of youth creativity. Neon colors, music, graffiti-inspired designs—each matatu tells a story. As a blogger who appreciates aesthetics, I found this culture bold, unapologetic, and incredibly photogenic.

Now, let’s talk about where Nairobi truly won my heart. I have stayed in luxury apartments and high-end Airbnbs across Addis Ababa, Dubai, Kigali, and beyond. I know what thoughtful design, prime location, and true comfort feel like. What makes a stay memorable isn’t just the aesthetics—it’s how easily your day flows. One of my favorite parts of staying here was the Modern gym. As a traveler, keeping up with my routine can be challenging, so having a well-equipped fitness center in the building felt like a luxury I didn’t have to think twice about.

The parking space is another feature that travelers and business guests will truly appreciate. Nairobi is a city best explored freely, and knowing parking is never a worry adds a layer of comfort that’s often overlooked. And let’s talk convenience—modern elevator access may sound simple, but after long days of meetings, city tours, or restaurant hopping, it makes a world of difference. Every detail seems designed to make life easier.

Over the years, I’ve stayed in many beautiful spaces across Africa, but what makes Kilimani Luxury Loft special is the feeling it creates. It doesn’t try too hard. Not to mention the host. She's a very Kind and understanding business lady. She used to check on me all the time to make sure that I'm good. I made a friend out of her.
